It’s been way too long since sitting down and writing! I realized over the weekend I hadn’t even updated about Josiah’s growth hormone testing. Although, some of that is because I don’t have much information to pass along! Josiah did have growth hormone testing in April, and he showed up at the hospital dressed as a doctor. He was cute as can be, and everyone loved it. The test came back a week or so later that Josiah is growth hormone deficient, and we will see the endocrinologist in June, after the MRI results are back. My understanding is if the MRI is clear, he will start growth hormone. If the MRI shows tumor growth, we’ll be dealing with tumor and growth hormone cannot be given.
Speaking of MRI, the week of June 20th is a busy week, as we’ll be in Columbia for different appointments Monday – Thursday. We will have an interview for neuropsychological testing on Monday, June 20th. The interview is a two hour appointment, followed by actual testing (also 2 hours) with the neuropsychologist done on Tuesday (21st) morning. Tuesday afternoon he is scheduled to be sedated for botox and his MRI. Wednesday (22nd) he will see the neurosurgeon in clinic (routine post-MRI follow-up), and Thursday (23rd) we meet with the endocrinologist. It’s going to be a long week!
Last week Josiah had two appointments due to him slipping in the shower and falling on his right hand. He had some bruising and a little bit of swelling, but it was hard to know if it was broke, since he doesn’t move any of his fingers on his right hand. We ended up taking him to the doctor on Wednesday (25th – which also happened to be Nathan and I’s 14th wedding anniversary). The doctor looked at the x-ray and didn’t see anything concerning, so we headed out. About 45 minutes later we received a call letting us know the radiologist had found a small fracture by the growth plate in his ring finger. We were scheduled with the orthopedic surgeon that afternoon, who just taped Josiah’s fingers together to keep the finger protected. Unfortunately, Josiah pulled the tape off soon after, and we attempted to re-tape but eventually gave up. I figured he messed with his finger more with the tape on and would likely do more damage than not having anything. It doesn’t seem to bother him much, so that’s a good thing!
Other than that, all has been well. We’ve had a busy few weeks finishing up school and visiting with family members during the weekends and having my four nephews at our house for a few days! We all had a blast! We don’t have a lot going on this week, but June starts a new month filled with summer camps and Josiah’s appointments.
