With all of yesterday’s talk about therapy, I remembered back to a few weeks ago when we were visiting with family. Josiah began by showing everyone his “cartwheels.” (If you ask him, he’ll be happy to show you too – and even if you don’t ask, he’ll likely show you as well!) Josiah loves doing exercises with his dad in the mornings, which is awesome, because he’s getting in quite a bit of physical therapy through that alone! The biggest thing he does is using the right arm and pushing weight through the arm. That is ultimately what will build the strength in that arm.
Back to cartwheels… Just showing everyone was not enough, as he grabbed his grandma’s hand and asked her “do you want to exercise with me?” Who can resist that?
Then Josiah moved to his grandpa, asking the same question. Again, who can resist?
Next, he decided to ask his great-grandma. “Will you please come exercise with me?” Sensing the hesitation, he grabbed her hand and tugged on it, with a sweet high pitched little “please!?” Even great-grandma can’t resist!
Finally, the cousins came out to see what was going on, and they each took turns on the blanket doing different exercises or moves. I’m not sure who had more fun; Josiah, or everyone who was watching! Thanks to my brother-in-law for capturing these moments!
