Josiah’s MRI and labs were all good today!
The day went great! With lots of prayers, Josiah was calm the whole day! I overheard him praying multiple times when he’d get nervous, and I’m not sure how many times he asked his daddy to pray for him yesterday and today.
Things were a little different than normal due to COVID. There was no toy room, and we had to stay in a room with the door closed the whole time we were in the cancer center. Josiah was disappointed that he couldn’t go right in to play with the toys, but did just fine settling into a room. They got numbing cream on and then waited for that to work.
After a quick exam, they put in his IV. He was very happy to have the child life specialist as a captive audience, showing her his Minecraft world while they did the IV and drew blood for labs. Not a tear or shred of nervousness. Nathan and I just stood back and watched, which I’m not sure has ever happened! I’m so thankful they allowed two parents to come to the appointment.
When the MRI was ready for us, we walked downstairs to get that done. Nathan went into the MRI room with him, while I waited in the waiting room, which is how it usually goes down.
8 years…
Josiah has 3 more yearly MRIs left. It’s so crazy to think how far he’s come in the last 8 years. It’s not been an easy road, but the blessings have been abundant. God is faithful and good – both on mountaintops and in valleys.
Actually, it was 8 years ago this month when he had his first chemo treatment. I just want to say that I’m thankful COVID wasn’t happening then, because that kid was NEVER in his room!
